Just replied to #SocialHub discussion to @evanprodromou #FEP on #fediverse support for long-form text.

There's a broader discussion that the #ActivityPub dev community isn't really addressing.

Nowhere in the #W3C specs is defined that #Microblogging is the foundation of #SocialNetworking. And certainly not #Mastodon's app-specific interpretation of this domain.

The entire AS extension mechanism is overlooked, and that leads to a massive ⚒️ Golden Hammer anti-pattern.

PubSub is also a W3C publication standard, it's used by the XMPP-based Movim social and (not just micro)blogging platform, which didn't really take off, because Google and Facebook nerfed XMPP.

I'm so fucking tired of people's monologues on #socialmedia that no one fucking asked for... Blogs. Put them in a blog. #Microblogging is for discussions. Ranting at random people about a topic they don't care about is not a conversation. It's standing on a corner screaming into a bullhorn. At least it seems like shit posting has died. Now it's just random rants. People's multithreaded posts qualify as #political rants.

Also zuerst #Wandern gehen und dann microbloggen (hier: @groberschnitzer@pixelfed.graz.social ) hat letzte Woche echt Spaß gemacht.

Hab jeden Tag vier Bilder ausgesucht und eine kleine Tourenbeschreibung gemacht - soviel halt in 1000 Zeichen möglich ist. War lustig den Tag Revue passieren zu lassen und später machts auch Spaß sich wieder reinzulesen wie es war.

Vielleicht sollte ich irgendwann mal einen richtigen #Blog machen, dann könnte ich auch vernünftige längere Tourenberichte machen.

Exactly! The conceptual design offers us "Actors exchange Activities". So granular that it can model about anything.

Yet we somehow ended up modeling only existing #SocialMedia esp. #Microblogging. That is weird.

My definition of #SocialNetworking:

- Any direct or indirect human interaction between people.

So *both* offline and online. And where that happens seamlessly is where I envision this as a #Peopleverse (sociosphere). Runs on the fediverse installed base (technosphere).

🇩🇪 Es sollte wirklich #Fediverse-Software geben, mit der ich Musik kommentieren bzw. mitteilen kann, dass ich sie gerade höre. So ähnlich wie #Bookwyrm, aber halt für Musik anstatt für Bücher.

Man könnte das ganze zwar auch hier mit der #Microblogging-Software machen, aber…

…das führt halt dazu, dass man ein auf den Zeitpunkt des Postens basiertes Profil hat, bei dem ältere Status irgendwann verdrängt werden. Eine Art nach Künstlerin, Album oder Genre sortierte Galerieansicht wäre besser.
…es gibt halt einfach so viel coolere Sachen die man mit sozialer Musikinteraktion machen kann! Man könnte automatisch per Datenbank Musik finden, die ich posten will, könnte andere Leute finden, die dieselbe Musik hören oder dazu etwas geschrieben haben, Albencover automatisch finden oder sogar ähnliche Musik vorgeschlagen bekommen.

Gibt es sowas irgendwo da draußen?

What Ghost is doing at the moment is basically what I had been hoping to find on the Fediverse for quite a while now.

You know Ghost for their blogs/newsletters. Do you know that now, the blogs are connected to the Fediverse, a little bit like Wordpress does with the ActivityPub plugin, or what WriteFreely and MicroBlog also do?

Now, add to this a micro-blogging platform similar to Mastodon and the others (Sharkey, Akkoma, etc) except that both the regular blog and the micro-blogging are under the same account.

The micro-blogging platform is still in beta and lacks a bunch of features, but new are added every week. And when all is said and done, it could simply become one of my main Fediverse accounts (i.e. I could migrate this account there, although right now, it's not playing too too well with Firefish).
