I bought my first MiniDisc device (Sony MZ-R55 💽) with my employee discount at Circuit City in November, 1999. I was already the privileged owner of an Aiwa shelf stereo with 3-CD changer, dual tape deck, and TOSLINK optical output, so I was able to create seamless digital mixes of tracks from my favorite albums and artists *long* before anyone I knew had even heard of burning a CD, much less done it themselves.

So these last chance at bothering with the gumstick batteries was a wash-out. They're just old old stock and don't hold a charge. If you're into #minidisc just use the AA caddies most players have.
