Christlicher Glaube in der Kirche ist keine Aufgabe von #Freiheit, sondern das Gegenteil: man ermöglicht sich dadurch ungeahnte Freiheitserfahrungen. Die Wahrheit in Christus ist nämlich jene, die befreit, besonders von der Sünde, die stets an etwas bindet. Wer sich für das Gute entscheidet, bindet sich an Gott, so wird Freiheit positiv genutzt. Freiheit ist eine Chance, Missbrauch von Freiheit ist ein Risiko, denn so würde man in die Sklaverei der Sünde gelangen. Daraus wiederum kann nur Christus befreien.

Die Konstitution der #Freiheit ist paradox: sie ist bedingt und zugleich relativ, um wirksam zu sein. Absolute Freiheit gibt es nicht, zumindest nicht spürbar. Sie würde zur Entscheidungsunfähigkeit führen und damit zur Unfreiheit. Eine Möglichkeit, die Freiheit für sich zu vermehren, ist demnach eine freiwillige Selbstbindung. Ein Christ bindet sich hier an Gott, da die Freiheit Gottes die Grundlage der menschlichen Freiheit ist. Gott will den Menschen in Christus befreien.
