After this morning’s four politically motivated shootings, including two murders and two seriously injured—and with the shooter still at large— public safety officials & Governor Walz urged folks to stay home, out of an abundance of caution.

But the #NoKings protests went on, just without Governor Walz and Lt. Gov Flanagan. Lots of good signage and karma, despite the heavy hearts.

More on the #MinnesotaShootings and WHY some #NoKingsProtests in #Minnesota were cancelled by authorities. The shooter left cards about the #NoKingsRallies and police were concerned he might target protestors.

The details of the interaction are not made clear... but at some point, police were face-to-face with him, and his cosplay was believable enough to fool even them.

EDIT: Police found a "manifesto" in his car, naming multiple Democratic politicians, as well as #Abortion providers and pro-choice #AbortionRights activists. The shootings were done in the middle of the night, when darkness made it hard to identify if he was a real police officer or not.

The shooter has been identified.

He is 57-year-old #VanceLutherBoelter who worked on Gov. Tim Walz' non-partisan "Workforce Development Board" in 2019. His term expired in 2023, and his last known job was as "Director of Security Patrols" for an armed security company he owns, called "Praetorian Guard Services."

>>According to the company’s website, it offers armed security for residential patrols and “we drive the same make and model of vehicles that many police departments use in the U.S. Currently, we drive Ford Explorer Utility Vehicles.” A police-style SUV was recovered from the scene.<<

Police saw him up close, and were fooled by his appearance. Some reports claim he left a company ID badge at the scene. His company claims international security experience in many countries.

He is still on the loose.
