PS.: Yes, I made a cover to put on top of the circuit.

"Oligarch Pool Date Game" (sic) — an imaginary game that I conceptualised for the 3rd Nokia Game Jam, organised by artist Polyducks on Itch.io. The idea behind the game is that you have to successfully flirt with one of various oligarchs in order to complete your assigned mission, before the time runs out (represented as a bar on the bottom of the game). The different pools have an increasing number of oligarchs and also serve as difficulty levels. The oligarchs might like you or not based on their own unique personality. For the title screen, I decided to do pixel calligraphy, which is something that I'd never done before, but I'm quite happy with all of the flourishes that I managed to fit into this tiny format (only 96 × 65 pixels). Tools used: Glyphs, Pikopixel, Aseprite. #nokia #artjam #pixelart #pixel #oligarch #game #videogame #conceptart #pixelcalligraphy #calligraphy #titlescreen #retro #graphicdesign #lettering #pool #aseprite #green #mobilephone #aesthetics
A black and green pixel art picture that displays the name Oligarch pool date game. The word Oligarch has been rendered in a very ornate and calligraphic manner with several flourishes, while the rest of the text look like standard pixel fonts. Above the title, there's a big round heart crowned by a tiny diamond. Around the title and the heart there are pixel sparkles, bubbles and frames. This particular picture is exceptionally published under the CC BY 4.0 license.

Cops can’t do cell tower mass surveillance ‘dumps,’ court rules

With tower dumps, authorities can dig through the cell records that pinged off a particular tower during a specific time. Though police may be looking for just one record, these dumps often expose the data of thousands of people, making it a major privacy concern.

I really don't know anymore why an SD-Card Slot in a Mobile phone was mandatory for me to have, did i adapted this from somewhere or came up on myself? 🤔

Was it about error-prone memory or expandability or something else? 🙄

Of course i know about the usefulness of a SD-Card Slot in a mobile phone but the bigger Question for me is if i really need and/or use this Option as intended?

How to Lock Down Your Phone When Crossing the U.S. Border

At all risk levels, the simplest way to protect your privacy is to limit how much data you carry across the border.

EFF advises leaving devices you don’t need at home. You may consider selectively deleting sensitive or extraneous data or moving it to the cloud to re-download once you’ve cleared the border (or on a different device if yours is confiscated). You should also log out of apps and browsers that give access to cloud-based data and online accounts—including social media—and remove any stored credentials, or uninstall apps temporarily.

Alternatively, you could get a separate phone or computer that contains only what you need while traveling, although this may not be realistic for some due to the cost or logistics of carrying additional devices. Further, using a blank burner phone that has no data at all may raise suspicion in a search.

You should also back up your data and encrypt your device using full-disk storage encryption secured by a strong password. Turn off biometrics and lock your device with a password instead, and power your devices down before arriving at the border to block high-tech attacks. The Intercept has a helpful guide to encrypting your devices as well as other digital privacy best practices.

If you do comply with a search and need to enter a password, do it yourself rather than supplying it to an agent, and be sure to change it as soon as your device is returned.

Finally, while tempting, wiping your device completely may raise suspicion if you are searched, and attempting to hide data may be interpreted as lying to border agents, which can be a crime.

Swansea gets mobile phone signal boost to tackle network congestion

Helping to tackle network congestion, the small cell sites have been introduced to boost the network capacity when needed so that people will be able to use their phones to make calls, send messages or go online when the city centre has more people visiting for events such as the Christmas parade and the Wales Airshow.

Delivered by Swansea Council in partnership with Freshwave and Virgin Media O2, the council say the project is part of a broader effort to position Swansea as a leading digital city.

It’s been led by the council’s digital champions, who have worked closely with Freshwave, Virgin Media O2 and other council departments to ensure there was minimal disruption for businesses and city centre visitors while the works have been carried out.

The project is part of the Swansea Bay City Deal’s digital infrastructure programme that’s aimed at boosting digital connectivity throughout South West Wales.

Cllr Rob Stewart, Swansea Council Leader and Chair of the Swansea Bay City Deal’s Joint Committee, said: “We’ve all experienced times when we’re in busy places but can’t seem to send messages, make calls or use the internet from our phones because the network is too congested.

“This project is aimed at helping tackle that issue to meet the needs of residents and businesses.

“It also contributes to our ongoing commitment to make Swansea a digitally advanced city that will help attract more investment and jobs in future, while supporting innovation.

“We’re grateful to our partners Freshwave and Virgin Media O2 and for the support from the Swansea Bay City Deal’s digital infrastructure programme.”

Neil Barnes, Head of Partnerships at Freshwave, said: “We’re delighted to have played a role in this transformative project.

“The enhanced mobile connectivity resulting from Virgin Media O2’s investment will bring numerous benefits to the community and pave the way for future technological advancements.”

Pete Hollebon, Senior Planning Manager – Outdoor Small Cells, Virgin Media O2 – said: “Small cells are an effective way of increasing local network bandwidth and play an important role in allowing us to keep up with rising customer demand. These new sites will improve the reliability of our network in Swansea and provide a better experience for customers.

“Our Mobile Transformation Plan will see us invest £700m into our mobile network this year to ensure our customers consistently receive an exceptional network experience wherever they are and even at the busiest times.”

The project followed an open access agreement being signed, allowing mobile network operators to access and share council-owned assets for their digital infrastructure.

This is the first agreement of its kind in Swansea and the wider Swansea Bay City Region as a whole.

Shout out. Anyone use or have used a Fairphone and if so, what are your thoughts? Pros and cons, beyond the obvious self-repair and long-term support? Boosts okay.

This is not an advert, and I have never used these phones, but reading this reminded me how poor smartphones' support is. Life expectancy is usually based on a soldered battery which lasts around 3 years really, and above all, security patch updates too. A totally unsustainable economy on the long run..

And the answer is: yes, it is. Phone reboots after taking multiple photographs.

So. Here I have a #DeGoogled Google Pixel 2 with #LineageOS installed on it. The camera isn't reliable, the battery life is laughable.

What on earth am I going to DO with it?
Any ideas, oh #Mastodon Hive-Mind?

Apple says a bug caused its iPhone voice-to-text feature to spit out 'Trump' when a user says 'racist'

Apple said it is working on repairing a glitch after some iPhone users noticed that speaking the word “racist” into the voice-to-text feature causes it to write “Trump” before quickly switching to “racist.”

Is there any hope for an old cellphone that has a messed up display? Like a lot of ghosting and mostly dark.

It's a little old #Sony M4 and it's now only useful (not much memory for any useful apps) for rides with Grey ⚫🚲 (which doesn't show me the time). I use it 📱 to show the current time ⌚ and time elapsed ⏳, to play music, and sometimes to navigate and record some video (i.e. my low-res witness, just in case).

Wondering if it's worth having it fixed. If it can* be fixed.
