MIT Press: MIT Press’s Direct to Open reaches annual funding goal for 2025, opens access to 80 new monographs. “The MIT Press is pleased to announce that Direct to Open (D2O) has reached its full funding goal for 2025 and will open access to 80 new monographs and edited book collections in the spring and fall publishing seasons.”
🇬🇧 The members of @tuchemnitz can once again look forward to an award from the DFG. For the funding period 2025-2027, the DFG is providing 439,000 euros for #openaccess publications. The #fund is not only limited to articles but can also be used for scientific #monographs #collective #volumes and #collective #contributions.
The aim is to support as many open access publication channels as possible, regardless of subject or publication form. #ubchemnitz

Re #monographs and scholarly comms: #openaccess clearly speeds up the dissemination, but (cf new models for scientific article publishing), I don't think we yet have a way to speed up the commenting, reviewing and response to books.
Our 'History of Scientific Journals' was published in October. #UCLPress now reports almost 3,000 downloads so far, and 45 sales of other editions. But, no reviews yet, and little sense of whether more than 2 people have read beyond the Intro... #histodons
