Aoraki III by Steve Berkley

Aoraki / Mount Cook is the highest mountain in New Zealand. Its height, as of 2014, is listed as 3,724 metres (12,218 feet). It sits in the Southern Alps, the mountain range that runs the length of the South Island. Lake Pūkaki is mainly fed by the braided Tasman River, which flows out of the Tasman Glacier. The Tasman Glacier is the largest glacier in New Zealand.

Mount Cook National Park, South Island, New Zealand.

The thing about this place is that, it is infact more breathtaking, untouched, and beautiful than its photos. I have fantasies about the solo road trip I had few months back on daily basis.

We visited the South island of New Zealand in December of 2017. We did a couple of hikes around Mount Cook and the Tasman Glacier. We think we found the Lonely Mountain from the Hobbit. #MountCook #NewZealand #LOTR

So, New Zealand photos! Where do I even begin?

I guess #Aoraki (#MountCook) and the #HookerValleyTrack are good places to start…

A wooden boardwalk stretches out over a field of grass away from the observer. Aoraki (Mount Cook) looms in the distance with a snow covered peak, despite the warm summer’s day and the near cloudless blue sky.A pool of startlingly blue water gently dominates the scene, with a light-grey rocky bank curving around the left side of the image. The bank is quite short, and quickly yields to green moss. The blue colour of the water is caused by rock flour — very fine particles of rock that have been ground up over time and suspended in the water.
