- l'intérêt qu'un logiciel privateur a et qu'un #logiciellibre n'a pas, de collecter ses données
- installer #fdroid sur son #android puis installer #mupdf

Anyway, I removed all the crapware that I knew for sure she wasn't using (which she confirmed) and installed #mupdf and #LibreOffice viewer from #fdroid. Funnily enough, the only app she immediately wanted to remove was fdroid, as she didn't know what it was :blobcatgiggle:

Rummaging around (for an unrelated reason) I found my old Google Nexus 9 tablet (with keyboard). Coincidentally, it turns out that I could actually make good use of it in the very near future so I tried to get it going again. What else are weekends for? 😉

Well, after struggling with Google and its "play" store for several hours, I gave up fighting Google. Instead, I successfully restored the tablet by installing Lineage OS (version 16 aka Android v8). The Google apps did not install for some reason but who cares? I have F-droid, termux, muPDF, openssh, and Emacs! I'm all set.

In terms of hardware, it's actually quite a lovely system, with a nice screen and a very good bluetooth keyboard/case.

@huwfulcher I recently installed LineageOS for microG on my S6 Lite (Wifi). It works like a charm, it even gets OTA updates. I use #Saber for hand writing notes, #MullBrowser, #NewPipe and Xtra for YouTube and Twitch, Breezy Weather and #OrganicMaps. #DAVx5 is nice if you want to synchronize calendars or contacts and #MuPDF to open PDFs.

Prinzipiell ist #broot ein feiner Dateimanager für #Linux, aber dessen Dokumentation ist einfach Schrott. Um ihm abzugewöhnen PDFs immer mit #GIMP zu öffnen, habe ich mich mal eingelesen. Aber die Doku fängt schon mit einem Fehler an: dort steht als Beispiel "default_flags: -gh", doch damit erhält man beim Start des Programm nur ein "Unable to parse"-Error, weil das Minus "-" falsch ist. Ohne klappt es. Egal, ob definierte Verzeichnisse nach Datum zu sortieren oder eben PDFs mit #muPDF zu öffnen, alle meine Versuche in verschiedensten Varianten waren erfolglos. Ist natürlich Schade, so ein gutes Programm zu entwickeln und bei der Doku dann derartig zu pfuschen.

Na gut, #vifm und #ranger reichen mir grundsätzlich natürlich ;-)

Es muesste sich eigentlich mal jemand die Muehe machen, eine Musterklage wegen des Semesterbeitrages zu fuehren. Die einzige schluessige Rechtfertigung dafuer, dass alle Studierenden den #Semesterbeitrag bezahlen muessen, ist, dass alle Studierenden die _Moeglichkeit_ erhalten, davon finanzierte Dienstleistungen zu nutzen. Was wir hier beobachten, ist, dass Beitragszahlende ausgeschlossen werden von der Nutzungsmoeglichkeit. So gesehen ein Dammbruch, was das Prinzip "#Solidarbeitrag" angeht.

I just split a double-page pdf scan into singlepages with #muPDF -tool, kicked out some empty pages with #pdfArranger and forced the #OCR with #OcrThyPdf - and although this sounds super complicated, it was not - and I feel like a wizard.

now... i still have to read it.......
