Side note: #SeymourDuncan PowerStage is totally legit. Bass player picked one up and brought it so we could evaluate it, and I've never been happier with my tone! It was the 170, and through a 8ohm open back 1x12 cab it was more than enough to rock that stage, and later in the evening through an 8ohm closed back Mesa Rectifier 212 it was also plenty loud at about 3 o'clock on the volume dial. But not much left, YMMV if you're going into 16ohms...

coming to the realization that, while the MPC LIVE 2 is a very capable machine for music making, I'm not sure it was the music making box I really wanted. It's pretty damn big and looking down at the screen all the time gets my neck hurting pretty early in a session. As a result I haven't used it much. Anybody have any recommendations on music gear that fits a similar role? "I recently got my hands on a pretty neat vintage item: the Panasonic Do-Re-Mi. It’s essentially a little analog synth / organ with a built in record player. Panasonic also sold a version with a built-in tape deck, and another even rarer unit that just contained the synth portion on its own. All three versions were released in 1977, along with the Panapic multimedia system."
