#mutableinstruments

Ooof. I had been going a bit bonzoos. Earl, the one and only maintainer of the RP2040/2350 arduino sdk saved my but.
In short, to run #MutableInstruments #Rings on the 2350, you need overclock to 276 mHz. This was not possible till the recent 4.6 update. Rings and Plaits on MMM short video, first rings then a brief switch to plaits and back. It's pretty. Meta Mutable Module from sluisbrinke and poetaster's tonetoys.

@bodil I do have to admit, when I do ports, such as recent #Mutableinstruments src to Arduino, I left the original MIT in place. It was the reason that the past 5 years have seen innumerable copies of the hardware with relatively few contributions. Rankles a bit. My stuff is all gpl. V3.

Oh! Still a long way to go but just going to show that #FOSS collaboration is fruitful ...youtube.com/shorts/SGvOdkQ_z1w #Mutableinstruments on our MMM . Niek ona video. At this rate we'll have Plaits, Braids and Rings running in this thing by mid July! Just in time for summer vacation. Which I shall sorely need.

Man, am I tired. After getting braids running on Peach (hacked) we (Felix from WGD) found a bug in Chambord, our sampler. Then, MMM arrived in the mail ... I've posted a little update: poetaster.org/news/2025-06-13/ There's an audio snippit .... #DIY #MutableInstruments #pipico2 A really big thanks to Niek and to the #RaspberryPi folk for all these years of great little machines!

Mi Meta Module, built and running in the rack under my desk ..... Doo, die, dumm, doo, doo...

This is a bit of a hack, but a profitable one. Just as with toepler+ I'm reusing an existing hardware design to see how far I can take braids on it: wgdmodular.de/module/peach/ ... supposed to have a XIAO RA4M1 attached to it. Pin compatible with an adafruit QTPY RP2040:) Had one of those lying around. Felix from WGD sent me a set of boards and now braids runs on Peach :) poetaster.org/media/peach_brai #DIY #Eurorack #MutableInstruments

Changing change the instrument with the tonality of the kick, triggered by Grids 🎛️

Ah. Niek posted a short update testing my Braids port on toepler+ youtube.com/watch?v=_MW-oU7pw3
#Eurorack #MutableInstruments still a lot of kinks to work out, but it's getting there :)

Not sure what to do with #MutableInstruments Tides. I just built a 2 channel 22 wave form lfo that makes me happy. But, here is yet another crappy video showing tides on scarp... #DIY #Arduino

@noisio @diyelectromusic.com

Quick note on PWM. I did tests running braids on the RP2040 at 96kHz. It has interesting qualities but is still a disadvantage. 48kHz really is fine!

More exciting: I obtained a2350. Oh boy is that nice. FPU makes all the difference for floating point heavy code like the #MutableInstruments code. #RP2350 #DIY It's worth the money (6 euros).

I finally got around to making a more or less generic sketch to demonstrate the #MutableInstruments Braids port to arduino. It's at github.com/poetaster/arduinoMI with minimal instructions in the Repo #README It's a real challenge getting decent audio output but Braids is nice and rings is nice. Plaits is still a bit bitchy, but, somewhat usable :) here is an example of what usable means (abusing FM)

Ok. Release early. Release often. Document while lounging on a beach in Belize. For those 17 of you out there that have a scarp, I've published a binary you can just copy to the scarp and have a look at playing (in all the modes and roots!) MI braids ported to arduino (for the rp2040). github.com/poetaster/arduinoMI #MutableInstruments #Arduino

@poetaster well after a mixed bag of failure and success (gardens, gas heating, solder) ... I need a kick. So I ported MI braids, again with much aid from Volker Boehm. github.com/poetaster/arduinoMI #MutableInstruments #DIY #RP2040 ... All's well in the world and this one should run anywhere. Clean up and docs next week... The tides, elements, clouds !!!!!

For some time I've wanted to port the #MutableInstruments code to #Arduino. For the rp2040 ... Recently, I discovered Volker Boehm , vboehm.net had done a #SuperCollider port. No excuses. I've got plaits running on my scarp. It's evil, but works. Code at github.com/poetaster/arduinoMI ... So far only runs on scarp for some obscure timing reason

I'm making some space and #selling off some #electronicmusic gear I don't use enough (to fund more #eurorack #modular, as one does). Currently, I'm selling my #elektron Analog RYTM (MKI) and my #mutableinstruments Plaits eurorack oscillator.

Can't tell for sure what others were doing, but for my part #eurorack:

- sequencing is done with #endorphin.es #groundcontrol
- main drums is #endorphin.es #queenofpentacles
- bass is #noiseengineering #basimilusiteritasalter
- bass is going through #joranalogue #filter8 mainly resonant low-pass
- later in the recording (~11:30) you can hear #expertsleepers #distingex in multisample mode, with one of my own samples (filter 8 pings) going through #mutableinstruments #beads

Music Tribe support asked me to send them a video to figure out what is going on. That;s a first for me. But I did, and I hope they figure out the issue with my behringer chaos. It is a clone of a Mutable Instruments Marbles, but no space saving like say, a uMarbles or Pachinko.

I'm leaning into composing to maintain my #MentalHealth as 2025 gets off to a galloping start. Here's another bout of #DrumNBass in the #BonkWave or #NotBonkWave persuasion. Built in #Bitwig using #AccessVirusB (Viper VST) and #MutableInstruments #Plaits (#VCVRack) and some #SFX carry us away on a journey fueled by #HopePunk
