Irish data protection knowers! Can you help? While there have been concerns (and fines) over the PSC, are there data protection worries in relation to MyGovID, or how it's used?
(Trying to search for this, but keep getting PSC-specific info.)

I cannot login to #mygovid for #centrelink because I have to get past Updated terms of use but when I tick box and click Next it clears checkbox and increments counter for retry in URL - infinite loop - I have tried #passkey and #digitalid and both fail at tick box on updated terms - I tried #firefox and #googlechrome and #edge and cleared cookies and none work - ring MyGov call centre tomorrow on 132307 - in Web Developer Tools in Firefox, this page has cookie error dtCookie rejected for invalid domain #dynatrace #config #error #javascript
#DigitalID: for government, by government, web-capable and standards-based.
I think that has a nice ring to it, and it's achievable (https://bne.social/@andrew/113506044045409357).
"For government" implies no social media age verification shenanigans.
My opinion is my own of course but I intend to bring this to EFA and like-minded organisations.
I received a message today from the #Australian Government's #myGovID service announcing that they are soon changing the name to #myID. "It will have a new name and look, but you'll continue to use it in the same way."
There is zero mention of whether the website domain (my.gov.au) will remain as it is or be supplemented.
Apparently, as of today, myid.au is for sale ...
I'm convinced that one of our main cybersecurity challenges is how poorly thought through official communications are.
I sent feedback to Services Australia to support TOTP (Authenticator) in #myGov.
The problem at the moment is that myGov supports SMS MFA, which is prone to SMS hijacking/SIM swapping, or #myGovID app for MFA which requires a Google or Apple account to install and use.
In order to submit my tax return securely I would need to buy a new phone and create a Google account (my current phone uses LineageOS).
This year I'll be submitting a paper tax return ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Digital ID and the need for open platforms

This is my first blog post! Still new to it and my writing style is probably a little stiff.
Australia's new myGovID gives favourable treatment to Apple and Google and promotes digital lock-in to those providers.
Australians will be given the choice of convenience and digital rights, but not both.
Digital ID can absolutely be better than this.

I couldn't report to #Centrelink today via Express Plus app because #myGovau account is permanently locked so I logged into my.gov.au via #mygovid and clicked on Centrelink I had linked and reported that way plus updated job applications on #WorkforceAusGov
I think I want to write something on my experiences with using #mygovid in #australia and trying to get things like my tax file number, medicare and banking re-established.
It has not been all smooth sailing and I've encountered a number of WTF moments with Identity Security in the process. Mostly around severely mis-matched policies on how to verify people between online, on the phone and in person. Especially between some of the various #AusGov entities I've dealt with.
I think the tech is cool. I think it's not being used the right way all the time and this leads to some weird gaps I seem to have fallen in.
More to follow once I'm done with it all I think.
#myGovID - what a trash fire.
My ID was previously verified to Identity Proofing Level 3 (Strong); yet for reasons failing understanding - it was reset at some point to Basic.
No notification, no advice. No explanation, and thatโs despite the myGovID app still showing it was Strong.
And for insult to injury, the app doesnโt handle (at all) scheduled Document Verification Service (DVS) for select services. It just returns an error saying your fault.
#AusGov, once again, canโt computer.
Can anybody in #australia explain the usefulness of #mygovid (not #mygov) ? I don't get it. Sounds like a #cybersecurity incident waiting to happen
In a classic stuff-up for these things, this is the last weekend people who need an Australian #DirectorID can sign up before the ATO starts fining them. However, the critical authentication between #mygovid and the DirectorID system that lets you do so is broken...
Today in Australia, tomorrow everywhere.
You know the drill...

Had a lovely call from ATO responding to my complaint about #MyGovID app being proprietary and requiring Apple/Google account. They've had significant feedback around this
