You may have heard that last weekend, a new museum opened on Naoshima. Well, the rumors are true, and I was there!

It is called the Naoshima New Art Museum (yes, I know, but there is a logic behind this name) and it may have instantly become my favorite museum on Naoshima.

Aftermath by Pannaphan Yodmanee – at the Benesse House Museum in 2024

Aftermath by Thai artist Pannaphan Yodmanee is a truly stunning artwork that has been a part of Art Setouchi since 2019.

It spent the past five years in the Fukutake House on Shodoshima (where these pictures were taken and this video was shot). Nowadays, it can be found in the Naoshima New Museum of Art. It should be there until January 2026. After that, I don’t know.
