Based on an extensive survey & full statistical analysis, an exciting new research field has found that the day after getting one's #NBN #FttN upgraded to #FttP, it feels overwhelmingly like a Saturday. 😲

For reference, my years-old now-superseded #fraudband #FttN achieved a best of ~39 / 7 Mbps.

I sincerely wish & hope that all remaining victims of those ghastly Liebs & Nuts can similarly gain this QoL lift, absobloodylutely ASAP! 🤞 🤞 🤞

I really hope it does not come to that, but have quite hardened my initial equivocation about boots & mask. sigh.

My #NBN full fibre upgrade has finally been completed. It's been a saga, and must have cost the NBN a fortune with all the staff and equipment involved.

I'm currently on a 500/50 fibre plan for the same price as my old 100/20 plan.

Speedtest begs to differ. 😁

For once, I'm not complaining 😂

I've regularly mocked the #NBN about the free #FTTP upgrade I'm getting. Justifiably. It's been a saga. 🤷

However, the team labouring away today, the ones making all those strange noises, *are still working*. At 6:45pm. Official sunset is 7:09pm, but we lose it ~15 mins earlier. They start around 7:30am.

I'm surprised & impressed, & hope they're well paid for such long days. I *really* hope they're not being exploited.

It's been some months now, yet still I hide with doors locked & curtains drawn. As I write, there are noises, strange mechanical noises. Through a gap I spy men in orange & yellow uniforms coming in & out of view. They're digging in, fortifying. I fear my time is near, the end approaches.

I leave these records in hope that others will never experience the horror, the travails, indeed, the terrible costs, of their free NBN fibre to the premises upgrade.

Hurrah! Another #NBN tech visit to install fibre to the home. Another, "well shit, nope, we can't do that, but we can do this [civil engineering project]. We'll run the fibre from further away, chop down a bunch of trees, and install a new pole instead of using the obvious existing path, or we'll chop different trees & bore a tunnel through the solid rock you're on. That won't waste money. Oh, that internal cabling you paid to install on our advice? Yeah, you'll need to move it."

Bloke arrived ~1045, agreed to wear mask inside [& has one with him], but... cannot de-boot indoors. He works for NBNCo only as private contractor, not employee, so has his own insurance, which mandates all proper PPE on-job always, including safety boots... inside & out.

I tried to compromise, asking if possible to do all his outside work first, then before coming inside for that part, do a really really good cleaning job on my porch mat, but he smiled & said nah not viable, as the job takes easily 4 hours & involves lotsa in out in out in out. Also, he admitted he's had flu recently, so both things considered, it's better to postpone & rearrange.

He will tell NBNCo job was deferred. They will contact my ISP, who will talk to me, when i can explain my needs to them [AGAIN, ffs!] & they will advise NBNCo that a staff-Tech, not contractor, is needed, coz then they can de-boot inside without breaching their insurance.

I tried desperately for four fucken days to arrange this, explicitly to avoid this idiotic outcome.

Tis now 13 hrs til the #NBN Tech is supposed to arrive to do the #FttN to #FttP doings. All attempts i made over the past several days to get to speak to an actual NBNCo human, have failed. These turds continue their years-old practice of actively discouraging & avoiding direct public communication. I assume we dirty proles smell too offensively for their delicate sensibilities. Their website remains useless as ever, with no phone# info. They merely have a Contact Us web-form, which i duly used, but ofc they have ignored it. My parallel efforts with my actual ISP, with whom i initiated the upgrade, & who then triggered the NBN booking, claim to be similarly hamstrung, wrt actual human-to-human contact. As advised by my ISP, since triggering the upgrade process, NBN have sent me a total of three automated SMSs, the first being info-only, the other two requiring me to reply with binary numbers as to if i am continuing or cancelling the Saturday appt... no opportunity for me to interact with a human. Fucken bastards.

Thus, now this close to the door knock, i still have not been able to decide if i wish to proceed [for the price of potentially contracting #Covid19 from a possibly unvaccinated unmasked peep, AND/OR endure mud & grease tramped thru my home if they refuse to de-boot at the front door], or abandon it & remain evermore on fraudband [for the benefit of not endangering my health & carpets].

I fucken hate NBNCo. Fucken bastards. 🤬🖕

In three days' time, notionally, i seem to be a chance of jumping from 39 Mbps ⬇️ to 420 Mbps ⬇️. Now excited & scared. 😱
