The Canal and River Trust is pushing ahead with plans to gentrify the London canal network by pushing off the itinerant 'live aboard' boaters through increased licence fees and adding extra charges and prohibitions for moorings.
This is a targeted assault on waterway communities, replacing peoples homes with 'leisure opportunities'
A licence strike looms
Catching up with the National Bargee Traveller Association campaign against the imposition of unfair charges for itinerant boaters. They are planning a licence strike and also a picnic.
Boaters take license fee protest to CRT head office
NBTA believes the proposed surcharge and rationale are insincere political manoeuvres designed to segregate and marginalise travelling boaters, with no serious concern for canal management finances.

Fly-tipping and bin-porn posts will be locked before they descend into a bin fire. Towpath tidy/litter picking posts will be celebrated - be the change you wish to see.
As this London boaters specific post was removed by admins. Can I ask when this rule was added, and where was the community outreach on for this thanks. As I was an admin on this page for meany years, and this is not a native thing to do.

Yes you can find exceptions but as the "left" drop direct action as a tool, the "right" have picked it up is worth looking at.
@bob on a positive side the "policeman" of the waterways #CRT are pretty incompetent, slowing their neo-liberalism based privisation of the remaining inland water commons. And the is a relatively affecter grassrootish counter force in #NBTA who "react" to slow the privatisation.
BUT this might not service the inrush of non boaty types who won't cheap flats on water and happy go with the #CRT agenda as then they can pay to keep their boats static. Pushing out movement.#
