On another account, I just boosted a request where some nice lady is asking for a cheaper flat for a family member in THE place in Berlin everyone wants to live.

Told her that only wanting to live there is a) reductive to the Berlin experience (seriously, other places than X-Hain exist) and b) one of the reasons the rents in that area of the city are even worse than the rest of the city.

The discussion then somehow swerved into the government curtailing poor landlords and investors unfairly and somehow that is the reasons for jacked up rents.

You know what, lady? I am suddenly quite fine with your 25yo family member paying 2000€/month for a shithole in Friedrichshain.

And honestly, I should have realised earlier that if you can afford THAT to begin with, you are most likely part of the problem.
