"...On October 23, 2025, Detectives from the East County Major Crimes Bureau concluded an investigation into a vandalism incident that occurred in late September in the Newbury Park area. During the incident, a group of juveniles riding e-bikes reportedly threw a rock at a passing vehicle, causing significant damage.
Over the past several months, deputies have received multiple reports of juveniles throwing objects at moving vehicles and engaging in similar reckless behavior in the same area. Following a detailed investigation, detectives identified two juveniles believed to be responsible for the act. Evidence and corroborating witness statements linked the suspects to the crime...."

September 24 TTAC Meeting: The next Traffic and Transportation Advisory Commission (TTAC) meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 24, at 6:00 PM. An overview of the ATP will be presented to introduce the ATP to new Traffic Commissioners and gather preliminary feedback. The presentation will cover similar topics from the May BAT meeting, with additional information on work completed to date. Please note that this is similar to a general outreach workshop. Once the draft ATP is completed, it will return to the Traffic Commission (estimated early 2026). The meeting will be held in the Civic Arts Plaza Board Room at 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. It will also be broadcast live on TV (Frontier Channel 3, Spectrum Channel 10) and on YouTube at youtube.com/ctomeetings.

For his Eagle Project, Ian led a team that built a rest area and information kiosk in Hill Canyon on Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency land, helping hikers and MTBers.

MULTIPLE PEOPLE RESCUED DURING HEAT WAVE SATURDAY IN SYCAMORE CANYON AREA, ONE PASSES AWAY:
Update: One of the patients, reported to be participating in a half marathon event taking place, was confirmed by family and responding medical personnel as having passed away.
Saturday morning around the 10:00am hour, May 10 of 2025, resources including the Ventura County Fire Department, AMR paramedics, and a copter from the Sheriff's Air Unit responded to multiple people suffering from heat related issues in the hiking area of Sycamore Canyon in Newbury Park.
Four patients were reported to be suffering from heat related illnesses. One had been rescued by the copter crew.
The patients were transported with multiple said to be in serious condition.
Saturday saw high temperatures in the 90's as compared to much cooler temps recently. Be prepared for these hot conditions if you are outside.
