If anyone thinks they are being private on Next Door, I have a bridge to sell them. There was one case of a stalker re-finding a victim using Next Door. Haven't really gotten any use out of #Nextdoor lately, and now someone is DMing me who is pretty obviously a bot trying to farm contacts for some purpose. Sent a request to delete my account.

Just got an invitation to #Nextdoor, supposedly from “[my] neighbors” but not to the email address my actual neighbors have for me. And the address it went to (which I have never given anyone) only reached me because Gmail ignores intra-username dots. Very strange.

I've never used Nextdoor, but i don't think I've ever seen a single positive thing written about it. Seems like every mention of it is about how it is full of paranoid elderly people, scammers, racists, and wannabe HOA SuperKarens.

I've unsubscribed about 20 times now. And, ya know, benefit of the doubt and email queues and all that.

At this point there's no excuse. Spam button every single email. Get yeeted into the sun.

Surreal #Nextdoor post - a lady asking for recommendations for an emergency glazier - as her husband has managed to put the window through trying to defend the #cat from being bullied by a #fox (I think he genuinely meant well, but its unclear why he didn't simply go outside to challenge the fox, which would very likely have just run away - would have saved a bit of expense and embarrassment..)

My first thoughts: the U.S. Government is in the VERY RARE position to make that specific association... Has #DOGE already opened the door to the sale of citizens’ data?

I made the mistake of opening #NextDoor today and found a post praising #CO Gov #Polis for declaring yesterday the 1st #Colorado-#Canada Friendship Day, in response to the #tariff war. A guy responded critically, with incredible confidence, that EVERYONE KNOWS that tariffs are a sign of respect for the other country. Turns out NOT applying tariffs is actually disrespectful. Who knew?!? And yes, people responded in support of this idiotic self-appointed maga armchair economist. Make it stop. 🙄
