This does not excuse my actions, however, and I'm committed to working on myself to be a better person.

I do actually use :linux: but mostly through live USB environments rather than installed, because some Windows applications do not work well with WINE (I use https://privacy.sexy to remove unwanted features that Windows 11 imposes, so everything's okay for now)

Interesting 🧵 about a Mastodon-Bluesky bridge bug/ferature and how it led to a bit of a misunderstanding.

FWIW, and I don't know if it still works, but an age ago the bridge allowed people to add #nobridge to their profile to stop it from being mirrored across. So, uh, stupid question. I have the #NoBridge hashtag on my user profile, but is there anything else I need to do to ensure that I do not end up bridged to bluesky? I tried having an account over there, I did not like the vibes, I deleted the account within a month.

I saw something boosted into my feed about a guy who had his posts bridged without knowing it was happening, the bridge mangled something making it look like he was talking smack about someone when he'd actually been asking their help translating something (and the original post was months ago, to boot).

I'm small beans, it is unlikely I'll end up on anyone's radar for something like that, but I'd still like to do what I can to avoid having my shit cross posted without my control or knowledge. (This is why these sorts of go betweens should be an opt in. If the two protocols do not talk to each other directly, the user needs to be able to have the ability to vet and/or fix when mistakes like this happen. Something that's opt out only, especially something that interacts without even notifying the user it's happening, do not allow that sort of control.)

Tried bridging my Mastodon and Bluesky accounts but didn't like it so tried unbridging...

Does anyone out there know how to get rid of the Mastodon bridge account?

Bluesky bridge account seems to have vanished, so I think I've returned to having just 1 Bluesky account.

But I've now got 2 Mastodon accounts with no way of getting rid of the bridge account.
