Sometimes I find gestures as a method of communication fascinating. We're so used to verbal communication as the norm, but sometimes we switch to gestures because they're more succinct or something.

Reading #SherlockHolmes and finding I relate to this quote, in my own kind of way, in terms of experiencing #nonverbal episodes and being connected to a number of people who tend to not really understand what is happening and become upset at my unwillingness to communicate with them.

Question for my more nonverbal fellow autistic people:
Do you have trouble verbalizing because of difficulty organizing your thoughts into words, difficulty getting your mouth to respond to your intentions, or something else altogether?
I find I'm most likely to struggle in the first few hours of morning. It's not impossible, but it's a serious struggle, and my words come out reluctantly and tend to be jumbled and full of false starts.

My phone has an awesome text to speech feature, so as a non-verbal person I can still make and receive phone calls.
Once it is running, it's great. But there is a 20 to 35 second pause while it shows up in my end so I can type and then I can't copy and paste, so I've got to quickly type, too short like "hi" the other end doesn't get it, too long I'm making typos or too slow and they hang up.
I really wish there was a way to get this sorted

Being #nonverbal it is frustrating to discuss world events with neurotypical friends and family. They seem satisfied with cursory conclusions. But I am slow to process events; it takes me a great deal of effort. When I finally arrive at a conclusion, it is on point and nuanced. By then, neurotypicals have moved on and say "whatever".
