A quotation from G. K. Chesterson

For there are two ways of dealing with nonsense in this world. One way is to put nonsense in the right place; as when people put nonsense into nursery rhymes. The other is to put nonsense in the wrong place; as when they put it into educational addresses, psychological criticisms, and complaints against nursery rhymes or other normal amusements of mankind.

Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874-1936) English journalist and writer
Essay (1921-10-15), “Child Psychology and Nonsense,” closing words, Illustrated London News, “Our Notebook” column

@Priyajsridhar
Suppose I were to make up a superstition. What would I create?

The best ones come from the irrational fears of children, I think. Something like if you kick off your covers in the night, your mom will never be warm again. Even on the sunniest of days, she'll shiver, even wearing the warmest of clothes. Now all it needs is a nursery rhyme.

Today Momma Darlo and I went to Banbury Cross with a hobby horse & took a photo in front of the statue of the "Fine Lady" purely because of the nursery rhyme Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury Cross.

"Ride a cock-horse to Banbury Cross,
To see a fine lady upon a white horse;
Rings on her fingers and bells on her toes,
And she shall have music wherever she goes."

🎶🧠 Nursery rhymes are more powerful than they sound
Beyond the bedtime tunes and playful verses, nursery rhymes help boost your baby’s brain, language skills and connection with you.
Even if you sing off-key, you are helping their development one rhyme at a time.

Rub-a-dub-dub Three Birds in a Tub

When I first saw this image of birds at the bird feeder, an old nursery rhyme immediately came to mind.

"Rub-a-dub-dub, Three men in a tub, And who do you think they be? The butcher, the baker, The candlestick-maker, And all of them gone to sea." - James Hook,

"The nursery rhyme Rub-a-dub-dub was first published in 1798 in the second volume of Hook's Christmas Box, a collection by English composer James Hook. However, the rhyme's origins are believed to trace back to oral traditions, and its exact authorship remains unknown. Over time, the rhyme evolved into the version we know today." - Copilot

This image captures three birds gathered around a uniquely designed bird feeder. On the left, there is a female northern cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis), identifiable by her brownish feathers with delicate red tinges on her crest and wings. On the right, a male house finch (Haemorhous mexicanus) stands out with his vibrant red head and chest, offset by brown streaks along his back. Behind the male finch, a third bird is partially visible, though its position behind the feeder makes it difficult to identify.

The bird feeder itself features a somewhat transparent dome-shaped roof, providing protection from rain while still allowing light to pass through. Below the dome, the rest of the feeder is constructed from black metal, with a partial cone-shaped mesh enclosure that holds the seeds securely while allowing birds easy access. At the base, a flat tray serves as the trough, offering a stable feeding area and catching stray seeds. The modern and functional design of the feeder contrasts beautifully with the natural charm of its feathered visitors.
