"The Carnarvon Flapjack #Octopus is a gelatinous #DeepSea octopus that grows to around 4 centimetres diameter... It's the 10th and latest #NewSpecies to be described from specimens collected during a 2022 voyage by RV Investigator... The #FlapjackOctopus is a deep-sea shape shifter with the ability to flatten its body to resemble a pancake—or flapjack—or to pull itself up to look like a tiny gelatinous umbrella."

In 1249 a monk from Eifuku-ji (now revived) called Zenkō (善光) went to the market to buy octopus for his seriously ill mother. By doing so he broke his strict Buddhist vows.
A neighbor, seeing Zenkō make his purchase, loudly called out the monk😰

is this a sign of #ClimateChange ? I didn't think #octopus were common on the coast of #England - but they are apparently causing problems to some #fishermen as they are eating all the other #shellfish (I'm allergic to all of them so this doesn't bother me)

They seem very transparent and I love that when you do have issues or questions, you can call, speak to a person who speaks human & doesn’t spout corporate bs at you, and who does whatever they can to fix the problem or explains clearly why they can’t

We’re all electric , with solar PV & a heat pump and are also very happy with the deal we have

I have had dealings thro my son with Eon. They are polar opposites in my experience

I've spent a couple of hours this morning helping to ID the latest observations uploaded to #iNaturalistNZ. It's always interesting to see what species New Zealanders have been finding. While I can help to ID a lot of plants and insects, octopuses I cannot, so we'll wait for a marine expert on that one. Still, look at it! Baby octopus!
