The current conservative gvt in NZ is blatantly anti-worker, as it systematically consigns workers to a feudal master-slave workplace environment.
We've seen pay equity wilfully abandoned, work & safety protections moved from mandatory to recommended, sick leave to be cut from 10 to 5 days, wages suppressed, firing employees made easy without proper process.
This gvt has sucked out the hope and vision from this country.
Even in the toughest of times during lockdown there was still an underlying sense of hope.
It's blatantly obvious this is a gvt for a wealthy minority, the fossil fuel sector and big corporate
interests. Its motivation is greed and entrenching privilege.
But we do have the power to vote them out in around 16 months. #onetermgovernment #NZPol
Economic growth is often powered by workers spending - they don't have the luxury of hoarding like the well-off. Cutting pay equity is a gvt shooting itself in the foot to paint a better picture for bookkeeping purposes.
The lack of courage in properly taxing capital via a broad-based CGT (that would conservatively yield over $7B pa) has been rejected by the sexist men and crumb maidens of this gvt because they've calculated they can afford to neglect low paid women and women in general. Today's #payequity protest/hui at Parliament admittedly wasn't a massive turnout - maybe 1000-1500 ppl.
But the energy, spirit and determination of those who attended was superb. And we got a lot of love for our little signs.
Multiple Labour, Green and TPM MPs came out to acknowledge the protestors, with several Labour MPs coming right down into the crowd to talk with people.
This is more than a campaign, it's a movement. #NZPol

This gvt has badly miscalculated public rage on abandoning pay equity, including:
~ reinforcing systemic misogyny
that women can continue
to be paid less
~ using urgency and denying
public consultation - we are
a "democracy" after all
~ taking the electorate for mugs
with a bullshit rationale
of enhanced process
~ using women to rescue their
budget deficit, while property
investors underpay $150M
in tax.
