Replacement Playstation optical drive from TotalConsole works very well -- this was being discussed as a drop-in-and-go replacement (not tuning) and it's worked with everything I've tested it with so far except one CD-R that I burned about 18 years ago.

My original Playstation from 1996, which I mod-chipped and in which I recently replaced the PSU (and optical drive).

About to take another stab at replacing the laser unit on my original PlayStation from 1996. This time, the mechanism is pre-tuned and pre-aligned. It cost twice as much, but apparently it should be drop in and go.

I fucking hate it when stuff on DVD looks like ass. I know that you can make it look good but big companies literally dont give a fuck. So now most dvds look like ass. And nowadays most dvds dont even have extras anymore and then its usually just deleted scenes which like, who tf cares about them. A BTS is way cooler.

OK paramount won't make a FHD version of star trek ds9 and voy but can't they atleast re-release them on bluray? Blurays can support DVD quality video but scratched dvds can loose quality. I borrowed ds9 dvds from the library and they where pretty scratched and the video had a bunch of purple ish haze on it. I've never seen something like that on a blu-ray. Also thoose dvds had a copyright of 2013 and defnetly seen older blurays.

So i borrowed the DVD for Deep Space Nine from the librury expecting better quality then what i have, i got worse quality... The picture is really fuzzy with a shitload of artifacting that makes everything look purple. I guess in 2016 the data they printed on ds9 dvds was so bad becuase while the disk is scratched up as fuck ive seen worse perform better or maybe its just direct streaming of disc. Im still very dissapointed.

Whats the problem with people? The god damm blu-rays and dvds from the library are always scratched up or dirty so my computers cant read them properly. some of them also have perfect circular scratches as if someone put a needle on a dvd drive.

Back at ripping blu-rays and uhhh my zbox(Zotac Mini-pc) is getting toasty. and no i cant use anything else cause a ps3 cant rip em and the other computer i have with a bd drive is a hp laptop where someone lost the recovery dvds and hp doesnt acknowlege its exsistance.

On my quest of ripping video cds i came across a exelent specimen, Alein: Resurection. Not only is it rather high quality, it also manages 16x playback where other video cds could barely even do 1x. It can stream in media so fast that vlc strungles to keep up. Really interesting how not all video cds are made the same.

I fucking hate video cds. They are so ass. Not only is digital 240p ass, it also can barely keep up with the data. Also they are supposed to have no copy protection but they are so ass that if you try to copy them you get i/o errors and it will make explorer shit itself. You'd think VLC is string engouth to handle them but no, vlc crashed multiple times while accessing them. Also most of the video cds I have are from Hong Kong around 2000 and are apparently decaying.
