Deskbot today is very special indeed. The mighty Transmetal 2 Megatron in his stunning dragon form from the end of Beast Wars!

In the TV show Megatron used the spark (soul) of the original Megatron to give himself the same power boost that turned Optimus Primal into the gigantic "Optimal" Optimus, and this fearsome red dragon form was the terrifying result!

This form of BW Megatron is one I'd long given up hope of ever owning, so was really excited when Generations fnally coughed up this modern revisit in Generations Legacy.

He's also extra special because this was one of the Christmas Presents bought for me by my lady love, @MariaTheMartian@kitty.social! While I'd suggested it (among others) I didn't expect in a million years it'd be the one she bought: cue extreme delight on Christmas Morning!

Beast Wars Transmetal 2 Megatron in robot mode. This design returns his arm-with-a-beast-head-for-a-hand design from his original form, which is a nice design callback. But this elongated arm has a fearsome dragon head on the end! In this image he's also holding the Blast Effect piece that comes with the toy, a huge long cone of crystallized flame as, er, a Club. Don't blame me, that's what the instructions said we could do with it.

A close up shot of robot mode torso and head. I adore that his chesticles have molded grooves for his dragon mode claws to slip into, becoming superb organic decoration in this mode. I also love that this design takes Megatron's famous headsculpt and surrounds it with dragon mode "hat" complete with jaw spikes either side.

Megatron (left) welcomes his old sparring partner, Optimal Optimus (right), with a friendly arm. Optimus looks weirded out by this. He should. Double-Megatron is NASTY.

Even without the third-party add-on pieces this Optimal toy is wearing it's quite striking how much bulkier he is despite being a leader class figure like Megatron. But then Megs does have those amazing wings folded away...
