PLaying with the #OrangePi 5 ... Under full load (A compiler with "make -j9" maxing out all 8 cores) it's drawing just under 10W. The #riscv #BananaPi-F3 (also 8 cores) is in the same ballpark. My laptop that I'm typing this on, which is currently doing very little else and has a system load of 0.58, is pulling 55W from the mains ...

Кажется я морально созрел принять необходимость домашнего сервера. Что то на одноплатнике с ARM. Точно не прямо сейчас и точно с обучением необходимым навыкам на практике прямо в процессе. Давно уже необходимо и сетевое хранилище, и медиасервер и сервер умного дома просится, да и такие штуки как #pihole кажутся уже не излишком, а необходимостью.

A while ago I got this dead Orange Pi Zero 3 for parts. Turned out to be a dead PMIC+CPU combo. No wonder they sale this exact combo on AliExpress as a replacement parts set 😊.

I bought it and got both chips replaced - it all worked except no matter what I tried it won't output anything over HDMI.

Last night I decided to reball and resolder the CPU - and voila - now I have a fully working board 🏆.

Прикрутим к Orange pi Zero W2 дешманский вентилятор, и будем следить и управлять его скоростью через Home Assistant. А в случае его остановки получим уведомления на телефон или озвучим его с помощью умной колонки «Алиса» ее голосом (реализовываем автоматизацию через Node-Red). На панели управления графиками будут: температура CPU, текущая мощность вентилятора, вращается ли реально вентилятор сейчас или умер. Научимся настраивать автозагрузку в Linux, подключатся через SSH к серверу и тд. Гайд писал с расчётом на новичков, которые только установили себе Home Assistant и столкнулись как и я с проблемами перегрева. Давай посмотрим как это все реализовать...

А что если принять радиосигнал молнии и попытаться его запеленговать? Вот об этом и пойдет сегодняшний рассказ. Мы могли бы принять участие в готовом проекте Blitzortung, купив у них детектор и разместив его у себя. Но… пошли своим путем.

Ok, it’s possible the board just doesn’t like the SD card I used the first time. Trying again with another and it’s going better.

Playing around with the Orange PI RV2 tonight, which—using Orange Pi's hardware, following Orange Pi's instructions, and Orange Pi's Ubuntu image—does not boot.

Which is entirely in keeping with all of my previous experience with both Orange Pi and RISC-V. Sigh.

I really liked #OrangePi RV2, but these chipcard soc's are uncomfortable for daily office-business due to their small size.

The Milk-V Jupiter is a cheap standard ITX board which I can mount in a "real PC-style case" with space for more storage and devices.

Recommended #Bianbu OS images failed to boot from SD card with errors ... but then I found updated #Debian 🥰 variants and with #Trixie it ran as desired. https://archive.spacemit.com/image/k1/version/debian/

I finally set up my #orangepi R2S router-board today.

Since there was no official case option, I cut up a piece of paper-backed sheet metal from an old external LS-120 drive I had shucked and formed a case.

This may be the first firewall box that protects the network physically by drawing blood of anyone who tries to pull out a network cord.
