I'm writing an #Emacs package. It's complete enough for a first release, but I should really include an Info file. I'm far more familiar with writing Org documents than TeXinfo documents, so I think I'll be writing the Info as an Org document, then exporting it as TeXinfo or Info.

My org-roam graph of semi-organized articles and notes I've made past few years. Little red dots are daily records as journal not connected to anything. So happy you don't need to use any sophisticated bloatware to make it happen. Its org-roam-ui component for org-roam (which is org-mode enhancements to implement ROAM model) for Emacs.

This is an incredible app: simple note taking that syncs to my laptop over iCloud without a subscription.

#org #org-journal is fantastic , if you use #todo in org-journal and don’t change to done for your tasks. Org-journal automatically forwards all existing #todo tasks to a new date. Meaning you if you have #todo tasks you don’t have to keep resetting.

@zwol I'm also curious, why auto-fill-mode is not working in #org for me?

And yet another approach would be to save the result of run-at-time, and only start the timer if that variable's value is nil. Hmm, that might be better.

Of course, this is all very fun, but if you run your Emacs init file multiple times, you'll get multiple timers running. Oops! run-at-time returns a timer that can be used with cancel-timer, so I changed my Emacs init to define a timer variable with initial value nil, and cancel-timer if that variable is not nil. And save the result returned by run-at-time in that variable.

Et voilà, ça doit bien faire 25 ans que j'utilise #emacs et je viens presque seulement de découvrir #orgmode .
Et en utilisant le tag associé, j'ai découvert plein de contenu de qualité... Merci Mastodon

Yet ANOTHER way to do this is to put the entry into my diary file. I could start with two entries, like

Monday Recurring meeting
Thursday Recurring meeting

But I can also use a fancy diary sexp

%%(let ((dayname (calendar-day-of-week date)))
(memq dayname '(1 4))) Recurring meeting

I'd like to put this diary sexp in my regular agenda file, but it appears the Org diary code doesn't recognize this correctly.

Thanks to @ablatedsprocket for pointing out some typos in my blog entry. I've fixed those and double-checked that diary-float still doesn't work how I'd like.

@ablatedsprocket Thanks, that's a good catch. But even with changing the '>' to ')' after the '0', I still don't see the meeting in my agenda.

@crandel The vast majority of my init is in an file (org-babel, literate programming and all that).

Most of what's in the .emacs file is a list of files used for org agenda (they automatically get put there).

Do any of you folks using #latex fragments in #org files on #emacs use lualatex to generate the previews? The .dvi files don't get generated when using dvipng or dvisvgm preview processes and I'm wondering if this is a fool's errand.

I create my teaching materials as #OER with #EmacsReveal [1]. For my course on IT Systems [2] in summer term 2025, I switched to #Kokoro [3] as #TextToSpeech model, and students generally liked the quality (see README of emacs-reveal for evaluation results). Teaching resources are video-like, interactive HTML presentations with audio, generated from #OrgMode text files using GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

This holiday season, I found the time to release #EmacsReveal 9.54.0, which includes the settings I used for IT Systems. I also updated the #TTS Howto [4] to use Kokoro.

Feel free to reuse my course materials and emacs-reveal! All the best for 2026!
