A new-ish friend told me recently that when she first met me she was startled by my "honesty", it put her off at first, then she decided she liked it and we got to be good mates.
That struck me as odd because isn't honest a desirable trait? Upon contemplation, I think whatever she is talking about turns a lot of people off, but it draws certain types of people.
I think it's actually that I overshare. But I'm not sure if that's something I can or should try to stop doing, nor how to achieve that!

Se non avesse un canale da 111mila iscritti (e la miseria!), lo strano algoritmo mi avrebbe probabilmente già fatto scoprire questo #youtuber estremamente pazzo… invece lo scopro con questo bel documentario, che ha saputo tenere bene la mia attenzione. È relativamente poca roba rispetto ad altri fenomeni che negli anni si sono susseguiti (uno in particolare, non credo di dover spiegare chi intendo…), in realtà, ma per certi versi questo ha un’aria un pochino octopilled che mi piace, nonostante i suoi punti più oscuri non abbiano nulla a che vedere con me… quindi alla fin dei conti approvo e consiglio.
Intendo, sono pur sempre una femcel io, quindi non ho mai avuto persone a cui mettere le corna (non che io voglia farlo), e certamente non ho mai sviluppato malattie sessualmente trasmissibili, quindi sullo schifo sociale e biologico c’è un abisso di differenza. E, io non mento neanche tanto quanto lui nelle cose di cui parlo (…non che io ne abbia bisogno, la mia vita è per davvero così tanto tragica come sembra). Tuttavia, al di là di questi aspetti specifici, la #sovracondivisione è proprio il cardine dell’esistenza di questo Daniel proprio come lo è per me (per non parlare degli infiniti problemi relazionali subdoli che abbiamo in comune, questi qui non dovuti a comportamenti tossici ma solo alla nostra orribile natura). A proposito di questo, non mentirò (visto?): mi sembra assurdo che, col mio blog ed ogni cosa, dove dico letteralmente di tutto, robe a tratti pure peggiori di questo qui, ancora non ho un seguito attivo che si conti su più dita di quelle di mani e piedi sommate, mentre gli altri ricevono i documentari… bah!
Dall’altro lato, non so perché, ma ha anche un pochino delle vibe da (quel) tizio giapponese di YouTube; così, come bonus… e in effetti i tratti somatici mi paiono asiatici, e lui era fissato con il Giappone, ma in realtà non è giapponese (pare sia thailandese). Dato tutto questo, ad ogni modo, il canale è finito immediatamente nelle mie iscrizioni, e probabilmente ora sarà il caso di recuperare i vecchi video più interessanti: https://www.youtube.com/@HidingInMyRoom1989. Magari, dopo tutte quelle ragazze strane che negli ultimi mesi ho apprezzato, questo ragazzo ancora più strano potrebbe diventare il mio modello maschile, che fino ad ora è mancato… Devo veramente aspirare a diventare così grande in qualche modo, cazzarola.

Now we are in low orbit around Christmas Day itself, I realise how I am slightly dreading it, since everything has changed in my life since last Christmas.
Encapsulated in that sentence is the power of the Christmas tradition: it makes us think back and compare, joining this year to the long line of Christmases in our past.
It interests me how all traditions like this are a kind of reified continuity. A way of manifesting the passage of time in the world, in a way we can hold on to and share. Continuity in community, or maybe the other way around.
So I do not dread Christmas: the important change is the fracturing and remaking of my familial community, which is most evident in the times of family tradition. A change that requires work.
