March 1st 2026 paper collage, ca. 13.5 x 6.5 cm. – Like my May 2022 collage „Variation zu einem Porträt von M.“ („Variation on a portrait of M.“), this is a kind of personal re-interpretation of Edvard Munch’s „Madonna“, one of my all time favourite paintings. Of course I also always liked the story behind it, Munch’s unhappy affair with Dagny Juel. The title of this new work was inspired by a line from a 1920s book on natural and industrial poisons.

One year ago today: February 25th 2025 paper collage/pencil drawing „Hätte er damals Besseres verdient, oder war ihm das Beste zugestoßen, das ihm zustoßen konnte?“ („Had he deserved better back then, or had happened to him the best which could have happened?“).
This originated as my contribution to a collage contest under the motto „drawing“. The pencil drawing was itself based on a photo I took from a certain person now long history. Back then we both thought the photo owned a bit of Courbet’s „L’origine du monde“.
