Finally this simplified version worked. It's a reasonably good likeness of my favorite #cat

@WellingtonChineseHistory I cobbled this together last night from paper straws and scrap paper – a prototype for a lanterns-and-calligraphy workshop this coming weekend. Apart from the lights inside, it's compostable.

A hand-made paper lantern with 馬 written on the sides, lit from within.

Instead of individual hooks affixed to each lid, I'm creating a shelf out of cardboard, to the underside of which I will affix the lids. Like those racks of baby food jars full of screws every old workshop used to have.

The prototype shelf. two layers of corrugated cardboard glued to heavy cardboard backing, with a 1/4" slot cut into it along the length. Into the slot is inserted a 1.5" deep piece of corrugated cardboard, exposing 1". It is mostly covered in black tinted mod podge.

Made some Daffodil too. Put them together with the Lily of the Valley. All made of A4 paper with watercolour.

Just finished these up last night and I LOVE how they came out! Used tempera paint sticks, acrylic paint markers, gold spritzer, and various extras for accents/details.

Built turn signals for the cab. Despite being ~2mm in size and round, they are made of paper. They are made by shaping the end of a paper tube that is later cut away from the round end. #papercraft #Tatra815 #AV15 #scalemodel #histscalemodels

Ive been stress-making #paper #beads from a discarded history #book and old nail polish for the last several days

I quite like the mindless repetition of it, i can just let my body go on autopilot while i think of something else or nothing at all... it kinda scratches the same itch as crocheting but in a slightly different way

Im excited to need more/larger jars to contain and sort the beads by size and finish, and also to start making projects out of them

Close up of some of the beads in my outstretched palm. Some are finished with clear nail polish, others with various shades of pink nail polish. Many of them have fragments of text visible on them, illegible but signaling their origins as pages of an old book

I often see educational materials where illustrations of light bulbs light up or fans spin. I like to introduce kids to the joy of electronics by turning simple circuits into something unique. I often look at nature for inspiration. A variation of my glowing mushrooms are these jelly fish.

My littlest one has been sick this week, so I put together her Valentine's box using a shoe box and pieces of origami paper from booklets I picked up at Michaels. I'm a huge fan of the 333 Origami Sheet series.
