it was sitting exactly where I thought it was, sans band but right next to the charge cable & some watch strap pins – I dug out an old Apple watch band to match the “aged” appearance, removed the Apple connector, et voilà 💁‍♀️

I charged it Monday night & took it off Tuesday morning, so it’s at ~2.5 days uptime just sitting on a desk but alerting & vibrating for every notification – Battery+ app is throwing up a “0 Hour Left” screen periodically but is showing 41% remaining in the app ¯_(ツ)_/¯ (& the Battery Lifetime app concurs, showing 40%)

the app just prompted me to update the firmware to v4.4.1-rbl so I’ll do that then stick it back on the charger so Battery+ can start tracking charge cycles & discharge rates 😊

I could not help but to preorder the Core Time 2 PebbleOS watch...

My original Pebble Time is pretty dated, the battery won't make it a few more years. I already replaced the battery on a previous instance, didn't work out so well.
Also the software is 32 bit and pretty problematic, Gadgetbridge not working here.

Hopefully the new Core Time 2 will deliver an update for some years to come! Now I just need to be very very patient til December or maybe a bit later...

Still I'm a bit excited already. Stupid, innit?

So after about 2 weeks with my #PebbleTime, I can confirm that the battery is as good as new, still lasts a full week easily. These things were build to LAST.

Despite my #PebbleTime nearing 9 years old, it still gives me 4-5 days of battery life. Admittedly I have not used it consistently for all these years but it is still impressive. I forgot how good it was.

Also since it is physical buttons only, I can actually use it even with gloves.

Stand-by mode to save battery when unworn is perfect too for all these times where I want to alternate with my mechanical #watches

I sold my #Apple Watch. My wrist is free again now for the #PebbleTime and my regular #watches. I have to admit though, the nice thing about Apple devices is that they retain pretty well their value. I somehow sold mine at the same discounted price I paid at the time.

@lnxw37b2 When I was 8, #DaylightSavings was a big deal. We’d change all the clocks.

Now I have adult friends who don’t even notice because their phone changes the time for them or they use an #AppleWatch that does the same thing. Even I have to adjust the time on my analog watch (which is my favorite, no hate to the #PebbleTime or #PebbleTimeRound which are both definitely goated). There’s something surreal about that.

I was getting ready to nuke my old #iPhone before trading it in, when I remembered to check if the #pebble app made it to my new one, turns out it hadn’t since the app was removed from the App Store last year. But, I refuse to let the little guy die so i looked around and it turns out using #imazing you can backup apps locally and download them to your new phone. Here’s my #PebbleTime still going strong, connected to my #iPhone15, 7 years after the company got bought out by #Fitbit

Now here’s the product I was marginally interested in, the #AppleWatchUltra2 (not switching away from the #PebbleTime though!)

I was away from home camping at a music festival for the weekend. I didn't want to have to charge my Samsung smart watch every day, so I switched to using my old Pebble Time watch from 2015.

Three days later and it still has 60% charge. We really have gone backwards in terms of convenience in our technology!

The display finally got bad enough/the battery was annoying me enough to make me do this today. Fresh "new" everything apart from the PCB!

(And by "new" I mean used for a year or so until the watch died for unknown reasons)
