I've recently been thinking a lot about the best way to help people move from #GitHub -> @radicle
Radicle has a completely different architecture (#peerToPeer vs. centralised) and identity system (based on #DID), so ... there's quite the learning curve.
There's *quite* the gap to bridge.

Morning all! I was supposed to join @screwlisp for their Lispy Gopher Show podcast yesterday but time zone differences meant I had to send a recording instead which they discussed with questions from their mud (yep, it’s a geeky community) :)
I touched on the history of computing, the current challenge to our human rights and democracy with technofascism, and how the Small Web is one attempt to safeguard our freedoms by creating a peer-to-peer web owned and controlled by everyday people who use technology as an everyday thing. (And the role of design and simplicity in making that possible.)

Valid question! One I've really had to think about in the past.
First of all, I love the #codeberg mission and am a member of the association. We're on the same side.
However, I don't think #federated instances are the best solution to hosting the world's #OpenSource.
I think individuals (rather than organizations) should have the power to seed repos they care about and keep them online.
That is: I think the solution should be of a #peerToPeer nature, not of a #federated one.

@gvwilson I would go a step beyond #federation and suggest that the solution for hosting the world’s #OpenSource should be a #peerToPeer one.
#p2p means even individuals can “seed” content they want to maintain on the network, so when institutions get shut down, individuals - in their numbers - can take action.
But then again, I work on @radicle , so I’m clearly biased! ;)
