Au bout du lac se trouve un refuge sur un petit promontoire encadré de part et d'autre par deux collines, juste à sa droite se dresse une montagne en forme de canine. Juste à gauche du refuge, on distingue très loin à l'horizon des montagnes dont certaines sont enneigées.
Le ciel est bleu, traversé de fins nuages rose pâle qui se reflètent dans le lac.

Une petite vallée encaissée est plongée dans l'ombre. Le côté gauche de l'image est fermé par une haute falaise qui domine un pierrier. Plus à droite on arrive sur un pâturage tourmenté de reliefs arrondis laissés par le retrait d'un glacier peut-être récent. Au bout de ce pâturage se trouve un petit lac niché au creux d'une formation rocheuse en forme d'écaille. A droite derrière cette écaille il semble y avoir une rupture de pente brutale, on voit au loin un pâturage aussi tourmenté, et éclairé par le soleil. A l'horizon on distingue de hautes montagnes aux sommets enneigés, de l'autre côté de la vallée. Au-dessus, le ciel est d'un bleu immaculé.

A small, deep valley is plunged into shadow. The left side of the picture is closed by a high cliff overlooking a scree slope. Further to the right, we come to a pasture tormented by rounded reliefs left by the retreat of a perhaps recent glacier. At the end of this pasture is a small lake nestling in the hollow of a scale-like rock formation.
