#Antifa is a #domestic entity &, as such, is not a candidate for inclusion on the #State Department’s list of foreign #terror organizations. Dozens of groups, including extremist organizations like the Islamic State & al-Qaida, are included on that list. The designation matters in part because it enables the #DOJ to prosecute those who give material support to entities on that list even if that support does not result in violence.

That #kestrels are on the red list of most concern for conservation of birds in #Ireland due to persistent annual decline, apparently due to a combination of farming practices, #raptor #persecution, and #rural #urbanisation, which takes away not only their foraging areas, but their prey, and habitat suitability.

Now, what do we have here perched on an ESB electricity wire scouting for prey behind our garden, and on land for which a proposed dwelling has been applied for by 3rd parties? This is literally a few metres from a "special area of conservation".

Phil reminded me of the disgraceful time in NZ history when people were paid a bounty to kill Australasian harriers. Hundreds of thousands of harriers were killed early last century to protect people's chickens and game birds (and sheep, allegedly).

"In NZ, between 1923 and 1938, bounties were paid for feet of harriers; Auckland Acclimatisation Society paid bounties for 200,000 harriers ... and in 1930s and 1940s, Otago Acclimatisation Society paid bounties for 26,184 harriers in 7 years."
