One of the last of its kind: an orchard hidden within the urbanity of San Jose. The entire Santa Clara Valley used to be farmland, with vast orchards of nuts, cherries, apricots, avocado, and (here) persimmons. Most of the orchards were paved over decades ago, leaving a few isolated islands that have been rapidly disappearing. Six weeks from now this one will be only a memory, too. 😢

We had a lovely evening with friends last night and brought dessert. I knew there were some limitations due to allergies, so in the thinking process I chose to go with super simple truffles/mini torte balls. And then @WTL suggested the seasonal favourite homemade Belgian waffles.

The plated dessert with freshly puréed mango and persimmons and fresh blackberries from our @oddbunchcanada box; the homemade Belgian Waffles and the Sweet Potato Truffle/Torte, topped with some coconut whipped topping provided by our hosts!
