When I lived in The City and still road motorcycles, it use to be the "thing to do" to stop at Alice's to look at other bikes & to meet other riders but not necessarily eat there.

I have eaten there when it wasn't busy and never got sick there but this was back in the 80's when I hope their food handling was better.

After awhile, I still rolled by to see what was going on but Alice's simply got too busy/popular and I stopped going there and rode down to Pescadero via La Honda & Pescadero Ck Rds to eat at Duarte's Tavern instead, which is FAR BETTER than Alice's and then road back up to The City via Hwy 1.

Downtown Local, a coffee shop in #Pescadero, has some old theater seats at their tables. (Good coffee, too).

We went paddling at #PescaderoMarsh today. This is our second attempt, and much more successful than the first.

You are allowed to do this September thru March (I presume to avoid disturbing nesting birds). But they don't make it easy.

The easiest access seems to be to pull over at the north end of the Hwy 1 Bridge, unload boats, go park south of the bridge, walk back, drag boats over 100 yards of sand to the water. I promise it's worth it!

Stopping by the side of the road is actually a little easier/safer than usual right now because of some roadwork.

Last time we tried to paddle the marsh, following advice from the internet, we started on Butano creek where it goes under a bridge for Pescadero Rd (next to a fire station). Much easier access but it was just too shallow.

Sorry no pictures. Left the phone safely in the car (a lesson learned the hard way in the previous attempt).

Also discovered that #DowntownLocal coffee in #Pescadero now has affogatos.

La Honda to #Pescadero. Heading deep into the coastal forests between San Jose and the pacific coast. Many folks who’ve not lived here don’t know we’re 15 minutes from the redwood forests, and 45 minutes from the ocean. 🐟🌲

There’s a store here in Pescadero - Arcangeli’s - that sells their own bread and sauces and deli meats. Worth the mountain trip just for that!
