Our board compiled the first annual report about our activities in 2025. Most of this happened in the 2nd half of the year as we only became operational in May: https://ev.phosh.mobi/reports/report-2025/ . Looking forward to 2026.

Thanks again for your donations.

Happy holidays everyone 🎄, Here's some update on how we'd like to inform client apps about display cutouts https://phosh.mobi/posts/xdg-cutouts/

Well that's a big relief. Upgraded my OnePlus6 from #postmarketos 25.06 to 25.12 without a hitch in accordance with https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Upgrade_to_a_newer_postmarketOS_release

The year is coming to a close and while you might be unwrapping other gifts shortly, we have just wrapped up the latest postmarketOS release for you. 🎁

postmarketos.org/blog/2025/12/

Big thanks to everybody who contributed to postmarketOS, to @alpinelinux or any of the numerous upstream components we use. Without you this would not be possible! ❤️

We would also like to thank @nlnet and @NGIZero for funding most of the infrastructure and maintenance work that went into this release!

Which of these on screen keyboard features would you have expected to be enabled by default in #Phosh (see follow up posts for more details on each feature):

I love that #Phosh lets me choose the headset speaker as an output device on my #Librem5. That came in handy today so I could discretely listen to podcasts while walking home. And a genuine feature missing from #Android - I used to have to turn my phone upside down when I forgot my headphones!

Today I handed my @furilabs running and to an assistant on a ferry to get the paid WiFi activated. I expected to have to explain the whole OS, but she required literally zero help. Navigating phosh, disabling/activating airplane mode and WiFi, opening and checking the WiFi settings, opening a browser, etc. - she just did it without questions. I doubt she had ever seen this OS before.

I guess a Linux phone is not that hard for "normal people", then.

The FOSS on Mobile devroom schedule is out!

fosdem.org/2026/schedule/track

It's going to be a great day of talks on AOSP, Mobile Linux and more; covering the full stack from SoCs to app ecosystems.

14 full length talks, 7 lightning talks, 23 speakers.

A mobile phone showing lots of logos on the screen: postmarketOS, MNT, AndroidOS, ubports, mobian, CalyxOS, NemoMobile, Sailfish OS, AOSP, PureOS and Droidian.

The logos are just a selection; they don't represent the actual projects with talks in the devroom.

@postmarketos systemd seem to have some issues with flatpaks on different DE. Seems confirmed atleast on sxmo-de-sway sxmo-de-dwm and lxqt.

Looks like the issue is around ambient capabilities. This was fixed in upstream so systemd phosh pmos probably never ran into this issue. Seems like the fix phosh implemented is to drop it on start up so we might want to do something similar to other DEs.

Someone know how can I set a custom alarm sound in #postmarketos using gnome clock? I've set a custom sound on #phosh but no luck. 🙂️

One of the things that makes #phosh look a bit unfinished is the fact that we don't show a representation of launching apps in the overview (while they show a splash screen).

We have a merge request for that now and it will hopefully land for 0.52 (or 0.53). This also fixes not being able to interact with apps while one is launching. Together with some pending activation fixes that should make things look more polished and will allow us to fix some other long standing bugs.

While you can configure the alarm clock sound in #Phosh the default isn't great atm (it's the fallback from the freedesktop.org sound theme).

If you're into 🎵 music / sound design and want to provide us with a good morning wake up sound 😴 please join us on Matrix at https://matrix.to/#/#phosh:phosh.mobi .

The sounds we ship in sound-theme-phosh are usually also used by distributions like @postmarketOS, , @mobian and others so this would make a real difference for our daily driving users.

🎙️ In our very timely new podcast episode 46 "Summer Events Special" that we are totally releasing just a few days after it was recorded, @RannyBergamotte, @ollieparanoid, @z3ntu and @linmob talk about Linux Mobile action at #defcon33, #why2025 and #froscon2025, all which took place between August 7 and 17 this year.

We get into how DEF CON in Las Vegas compares to the European events, what it's like to be at a hacker camp, plenty of Linux Mobile talks at FrOSCon, and a lot more!

Special thanks to @tgm for editing (first time editing a postmarketOS podcast episode)! ❤️

A often requested feature was the ability to change brightness on the lockscreen without having to pull down the settings menu. This can be useful in changing ambient conditions when not using automatic brightness. #Phosh 0.52 will have a two finger swipe gesture for that:
