Cadillac Gorge, situated along the rugged coastline near San Remo in Victoria, is a hidden gem shaped by the restless Southern Ocean. This narrow inlet, carved through dark volcanic basalt, reveals striking layers of geological history—each stratum telling a silent story of fire, water, and time. At low tide, the gorge exposes smooth rock shelves and swirling pools where waves once crashed, leaving behind miniature waterfalls that glisten in the morning light. The area is best accessed via a short coastal walk from Punchbowl Road, where the trail descends through coastal scrub before opening onto sweeping sea views. Though often overlooked by travellers bound for Phillip Island, Cadillac Gorge rewards the patient visitor with solitude, the scent of salt spray, and the enduring drama of rock meeting sea.
