The place was packed, the paths were full and awkward to navigate. We couldn’t find any space in the large Parrinder hide so the main groups of birds were just out of range for us. A Pied Wagtail briefly perched on the hide roof while we decided to move into the wooded area of the reserve as it was quieter.

This little chap was an absolute model passenger, nodding to everyone and dapper, and quietly munching away on some bread, no music, no touching. Then he shat on the carriage floor and ruined everything.

En route to the Kerry Ridgeway in late May, my brother Rob and I spotted a Pied Wagtail. Rob parked up and I took these pics from the car. I loved the pose in which the Wagtail, a male I think, seemed to proudly hold aloft the insects he'd caught for his young!
