The sketch book is not really suited for water colors even though the description said so.

I hadn‘t properly done any plein air OR used watercolours in AGES so this was really fun, also since this nice shady spot next to the water was perfect for escaping the heat. 🤭

Went back to the marina the other day and got the big shape of a building and a coast guard cutter, and tried coloring / fine-lining after the fact.

It doesn’t feel plein air anymore but it’s such a strange contrast of shapes.

Toujours à Xi'an en Chine. La cour des stèles du musée de Beilin, avec ces pierres millénaires gravées de textes et d' images sur l'histoire et la philo. Le dessin à l'encre ne ressemblait à rien, l'aquarelle rajouté arrange la perspective.

I went to a solo #pleinair again today, but didn't get beyond a sketch because of the wind. But I got to watch some wonderful father-and-son interactions. The young boy was working hard to control his offroad bike, and his dad was calm, supportive, reassuring, but wasn't helping. The boy was determined, and was listening to dad. It was a pleasure to watch.
