1/3 I just finished reading “Native Seattle: Histories from the Crossing-Over Place” by Coll Thrush. I was thoroughly interested as I read about how indigenous peoples have adapted and survived while maintaining an important active presence in Seattle society ever since the arrival of white settlers almost 2 centuries ago.

Last summer at Lake Wenatchee. Same shoreline. Four different moods. I love how the lake changes first, then everything else follows.

Warm morning light on the forested hills
Clear reflections when the water goes still
Golden silhouettes with the crew
Framed by the pines as the light fades

Which moment would you want to be standing in?

#pnw #LakeWenatchee

Wide view across Lake Wenatchee with a sunlit evergreen hillside on the left and distant rounded mountains on the horizon. The glassy water mirrors the hillside and sky, and the rocky lakebed is visible through the clear shallows in the foreground; a small pale moon hangs high above. The mood feels calm and crisp, like early morning stillness.A mountain rises on the right under a partly cloudy sky, reflected almost perfectly in the still surface of Lake Wenatchee. The left shoreline is lined with dark trees, and the foreground shows smooth stones beneath shallow, clear water with soft cloud colors mirrored above them. The mood feels serene and mirror-quiet.Three people stand in silhouette on the shoreline as a band of golden light stretches across the lake. Dark mountain ridges frame the scene on both sides, and the smooth water reflects the fading sky. The mood feels quiet and shared, like a pause at the end of the day.Vertical photo with tall pine trunks and branches in dark silhouette framing a bright strip of lake and sky in the center. A small group of people appears as tiny silhouettes near the waterline, with distant mountains forming a low horizon beyond the reflective water. The mood feels hushed and intimate, like watching the last light linger.

Four deer and two racoons were partying in my yard last night. #wildlife #pnw

I'm looking forward to showing my friend, Jada, some #hiking trails up island, when we go on our galpals Spring getaway. I'm taking her to a park where there's several #woodcarved creatures embedded into the #forest - in #trees & such 😊

Close-up of a cedar tree with a carved wooden owl attached. The owl carving is dark brown and detailed, depicting a simplified face and body. The tree is predominantly brown with rough, textured bark. The owl is positioned on the light-colored, smoother part of the trunk.

Driving back through #Nanaimo I risked it all and took this photo of a #ufo scooting by overhead. Since it was on the side of Te’tuxwtun (Mt Benson), I thought maybe it was Thunderbird out for a spin. #VancouverIsland #pnw #Indigenous

Cool cloud formation taken through the windshield. The clouds form rings with light shining through them.

I love my backyard bees.

But I wish they'd wait for the yard to bloom before they decided to encamp here.

Because right now my hummingbird feeder isn't getting no hummingbirds. It's all bees.
