So it’s a Sunday and there’s no kids, and yeah I agree I was going 33 in a 25, but what really entertained me, was the automated sign, had two statements: the first was, slow down, but the second one I think is my favorite, a little frowny face. Building stuff for #MocaccinoOS is a workflow that starts with a #Gentoo stage3 image. On top of that we grab the fresh #Portage tree. From there we build up all our layers.
Once everything is compiled we test it for breakages, they are rare because we are on Stable tree. Then I give the signal to the Community Repo team and they build against the packages I pushed into staging. Another little test round and we tag a new stable repository. #Docker #Linux

Installing binary packages using the #portage package manager feels like watching paint dry, compared to other package managers. I can count multiple seconds per package, even when said package is empty (e.g. a virtual).
I've always wondered why that is. It *feels* wrong, and nobody has managed to explain it to me.
A few days ago, while waiting multiple hours for 1500 packages to install into a clean root, it finally bothered me enough to dig into it.
