I now got my printer to talk with my computer.
I can now send the printer print jobs.
CUPS insist that it will get around to print the page, once the printer becomes available. (Which is never.)

Funny thing is that CUPS is clearly communicating with the printer through the USB cable, but the hp provided Linux installer says there are no USB printers connected.

Damn my head hurts. I visited a local printer this morning for work (we’re considering adding them to our small pool of trusted printers). K95 masks definitely do nothing to filter out that kind of smell; that’s not why I was wearing it mind you, but I thought maybe it would help.

Hmm, so the issue might be air getting trapped in the nozzles. That would explain why the colours usually clear themselves when left overnight. The black being pigment ink could explain why it's clogging so easily, especially if I'm getting air in there too. Man this is so complicated 😮‍💨

What the actual heck, I swear, this printer is going to drive me to insanity.

I managed to get two pages printed out. I thought that since the printer is cooperating for now, I'd find a nice background picture for my niece's cake shop, if I ever make it, so at least I've got it printed and ready.

And not even an hour after a clear nozzle check, the yellow printhead is now clogged.

Well, that lasted long. Black has already clogged up again. I have never had such a problematic printer. Honestly, I don't know if it's these refillable cartridges, the type of ink or if the #printer itself just sucks. I've just had to do ANOTHER manual flush of black. It's clear for now, but now I have patches in the colours. Frick's sake.

Anyway, miraculously, the black is giving a full nozzle check straight after flushing, but now the other colours have patchy bits. I was kinda expecting this. Usually this happens and I'll leave it overnight and the nozzle check comes out clear the next day.

Yay! Guess what time of the week it is!

Cleaning printer nozzles day!

I don't get this printer. The day before I had to print my tickets, I did a nozzle check, all colours were perfect. So the next day, I went to print my tickets and was left with this mess (see first pic).

After doing a nozzle check, I still had colour, but black was almost all gone.

How did it go weeks without clogging, and then go from fully clean to almost totally blocked black overnight?

I'm wondering if it might be this particular ink I'm using. I have a refill kit and maybe pigment ink is more prone to clogging than dye? I don't know. All I know is this printer needs a heck of a lot of cleaning, and I only tolerate it because it's so good at printing at a tiny scale.

By the way, the cleaning kit I use is from Printhead Hospital. They're a small business, so I'm happy to give them a free shoutout.

They have really good customer service (once I couldn't unblock my black even after two manual flushes and they told me a different trick to use, saving my printer) and their kit has worked really well for me and is the reason I haven't thrown this printer out the window.*

*I wouldn't really do that, because electronic waste should be disposed of responsibly.

God do I hate #printers:

My #hp printer was working fine, I opened the toner tray that now suddenly doesn't close properly anymore and it now only prints black sheets. It's probably because the toners aren't correctly positioned, but I already took all of them out and even without any toner cartridge, it doesn't close properly anymore.

Let's hope anyone want to fix this thing as it has practically full toners. I'm sick of printers. My #brother one is still working at the moment.
