I will be presenting the Heavy Compiler for #puredata patches at #lac2025 next week in Lyon!

Glitchy random #PureData thing idk I'm still learning. If I keep building this out, it needs a way to control it. Sliders for the metros (or maybe convert to BPM and set in beats and bars), delays, fliters, trig length, volume. but let's stop here.
It's taken 13 years but I've finally taken Ted Davis' advice and revisited the "vanilla" jpg header I detailed in this blog post about creating jpgs from random data https://www.hellocatfood.com/create-jpgs-in-pure-data/
And guess what? The jpg header is incorrect! One day when I start blogging again (never) I will update it, but until then enjoy this jpg made with a correct header and an atan function.
About half a year ago I played live with @bo_cu at the finissage of her exhibition *You Won't Find It By Thinking* at the Neue Galerie im Höhmannhaus in Augsburg.
We didn't do anything together for a long time before but had a few practice days where we figured out the soundworld and some sections to then improvise with.
There were no phones ringing but sometimes there was a huge bassy feedback that was not planned at all, it sounds quite fitting in the recording though...

@tristanC also pluguzu is inspiring me to think about porting my "livecode DSP in C" thing to other environments than standalone (optionally JACK-enabled) application.
maybe a Pd external could be the first target, because I'm familiar with that environment. have some ideas for using dlsym() to look up functions for inlet messages too; the tricky part (apart from the threading and race conditions etc) will be supporting accurate timing using Pd's notion of time.
And then a Pd-external version of pluguzu would be fun too, for pattern coding + dsp coding in the same thing.

Revisiting an old synth idea…
We're in the process of finalizing experiments with spatial sound synthesis and visualization, in close collaboration with artist and composer Ben Wesch - making use of #puredata, @vvvv and a 20 speaker dodecahedron provided by OTTOsonics and the Tangible Music Lab Linz.
First results to be presented today at Semmelweisklinik Vienna in the course of WOW! Signal Festival - hope to see you there!

Yes, I'm reimplementing 8-channel stereo mixer, and reverb UI, and 808-clone drum machine and many more modules I'm used to in VCV and elsewhere. But goodness gracious I've learned about sound design, DSP, tuning, and effects in a few months with #PureData as much as I've learned in a few past years with other tools and instruments that have all this readily available for you. And I can make it just right for myself, and tweak on demand, and just run a PD patch on some hardware too when needed
Haven't posted here for a while, but I haven't been writing music for long time. Until recently, when I rediscovered #PureData and #PlugData specifically. I realize that tools are as interesting as creativity to me, so this could be yet another rabbit hole. But I do have bursts of creative output while falling into these rabbit holes, and I hope this is that moment.
Fascinated with PD for long time, it always seemed too clunky. Hence seminal Farnell's "Designing Sound" seemed unapproachable
