Wow, #Microsoft is killing #Publisher... Again. At least where I used to live, you couldn't get it for years, between 1993 and 2007. The transition to #QuarkXPress was brutally painful. 😖 One of the most uncomfortable apps for me I've ever used.

I know it can do wonders, but it's hard for me to like something that's being forced on me.

I was glad to see Publisher back as part of #Office, although I never used it again.

Seems it's time to say goodbye to another piece of my youth. 👋

I used #Scribus for the first time in a long time yesterday, for about an hour. It was several versions behind the current release and on a 15 year old MacBook Air but my god it was still more intuitive and easier to work with than #QuarkXPress ever was/is.

TIL: Es lohnt sich nicht zu recherchieren, wie man alte #QuarkXPress -Dateien (.qxd) irgendwie so konvertieren kann, dass man wieder an die Inhalte rankommt.
Proprietäres und veraltetes Format... 😠 Keine Chance - jedenfalls nicht in vertretbarer Zeit / mit vertretbaren Kosten. 😤

Zum Glück hatte ich das damals generierte PDF noch. Damit kam #LibreOffice #Draw ganz hervorragend zurecht 😍 .
Einfach öffnen und weiterbearbeiten!

After a few tries I was able to fully print from Quark XPress to the ImageWriter II over #AppleTalk with the #AirTalk from the #PocketChip! It wasn’t quick but it worked!

Anyone former #QuarkXpress users find the alien monster Easter egg? Scared the crap out of me the first time. I was like, oh shit I thought Macs couldn't get viruses?! I thought it was funny though, once I figured it out.

Die Lösung des technischen Problems liegt darin, ein Programm einzusetzen, das NICHT einen simplen "line composer" sondern einen gut ausgeklügelten "paragraph composer" verwendet.

Kurz gesagt: Für gut lesbaren #Buchsatz benötigst Du ein #Textsatz-System (also nicht ein Textverarbeitungsprogramm).
