I guess it would be very risky to buy a Meta Quest 3 headset now when Meta has stopped its Metaverse thing.

Note to the clueless: There are lots of fun and useful uses for VR headsets that are in no way related to Zuck's "Metaverse" fantasy. Some headsets, like the Quest, even have apps (games) that run *in* the headset, they are not just VR accessories that need a PC. Still, I assume there is a real risk that Meta kills the Quest business, too, when it kills its Metaverse thing.

Note 2: Personally I have zero interest in in the type of games that run in VR headsets themselves. I use VR for games that run on the PC, mainly Flight Simulator.

So I need to look elsewhere for an eventual replacement for my HP Reverb G2.

I had to know if Kitsune Tails ran directly on the Meta Quest 3 at >120fps and at 1080p via GameNative.

It's kinda awesome that I *can* kick back on the coach, stare at the ceiling and play it with an Xbox controller.

(I'm bad at the game though)

Der Akku der quasi nie benutzten #Quest3 scheint nun hinüber zu sein: Benötigt etliche Stunden zum Laden und verbraucht 1% pro Minute. Jetzt beginnt sicherlich großer Spaß mit dem Meta-Support :awesome:.

Regarding Waydroid / #Lepton on the #SteamFrame:

Wow, this is something I didn't really think about yet: Valve goes the "Compatibility"-approach (again) and just tries to run existing Android applications that are already optimized for standalone VR hardware e.g. the #Quest3. This keeps effort for developers of existing apps at a minimum while allowing most games to run. I really hope it works as good as #Proton does!

You're completely missing the point of this. Oculus Quest uses an Android OS, which means every VR game released for Oculus Quest is an APK, which means there's a version of the game already optimized for a portable VR headset that can be run with Waydroid/Lepton. Valve is making the same move they did with the Deck, we can't convince studios to build native? Okay, we'll run whatever version it is they have already published.

This in conjunction with Fex makes it so that they should be able to run any VR game that could possibly be run in the limited hardware, and they're giving studios a way to release a "native" version that they already have laying around for better performance (or even to make their first release on Steam).

And let's not forget side-loading, most games on the Quest have already leaked their APK, they don't care too much because they're the only Android portable VR, but because the frame is an open platform people would be able to just install those files manually very easily. So if the studios won't do the minimal effort to bring their games to the frame the community will. I was momentarily sad when I realized that robo recall (which I own for the Oculus Quest) is not available on Steam, less sad now.

A little late to the party, but my thoughts on the recently acquired #Quest3.
