I’ve had a remnant of this Egyptian pharaoh fabric for about 4 yrs. I wanted to make a quilt for a dear friend of Egyptian heritage but wasn’t sure what pattern to do. Her sorority colors are crimson and cream and their symbol is hands in the shape of a triangle. The big score for me was finding wide backing in a color that matched the pharaoh’s crown. #quilters #quilting #fiberarts #quilt

I’m taking a 2 day class on fabric pet portraits. The first day I spent tracing the pattern twice (on butcher paper and muslin). I might have gone overboard with the size (42” x 48”) thinking it would be a quilt. It will not. Too delicate.
I got all of one eye done in class. Tomorrow is the 2nd day of class. I have all the pieces placed. Still have to tack about 1/2 with glue. This is Archie, my brother’s dog and a surprise for him. Hope he has the wall space. 😂 #quilting #fiberarts #quilters

About 5 years ago I made three quilted color books for the children of three of my nieces. This morning one of my nieces, a special ed teacher for young children, sent me a text, “know there will always be little one treasuring it”. She sent a video of one of her young students identifying the colors on each page. Just like that my cup is full to overflowing. 🥹

This short documentary about a quilting program for inmates in a maximum security prison has recently been added to Netflix.
It is excellent! So much talent and so much compassion. I recommend it for all #quilters and for everyone else.
