For my future self:
1. Copy files from the original card (games and this file: rf3536k3ka.dtb).
2. Download the `-b` variant of Rocknix: https://nightly.rocknix.org/
3. Create a bootable card.
4. Create the overlays file here: https://rocknix.gosk.in/dtbo/ (using file rf3536k3ka.dtb), select 2-sticks variant and inverted headphone detection, then follow the instruction underneath.
5. Insert the card into the device, so it can adjust partition and run initial config.
[EmuELEC's clone of] R36S arrived today and so I'll be posting about it in the coming days. As well as about old games.

Speaking of #retrogaming I recently bought this little gem. Admittedly it is an #R36S clone of a clone but it works quite nicely with the provided version of ArkOS. After organizing my favorite games on #RomM I found out that these dirt cheap ARM based #retrogaming handhelds exist, so I impulsively reached for the credit card.
One thing I didn't expect was that the wife would be the one "beta" testing a lot more than I am.

I'm almost 40 years old, and I have finally, for the first time ever, beaten Super Mario Bros. on the NES. I did use save states, because I make a lot of stupid mistakes in 2D platformers, and dying due to Mario being floaty was something that always put me off playing through multiple game overs to get to the end.
In a way I think having save states and emulators makes older games more accessible, especially for those of us who only have short play sessions available, or need special controller configurations in order to play. I'm super grateful to have those options available to me these days.
