"This is #London" was the callsign of the Norwegian government in exile in England, where open and closed messages to the Norwegian people and resistance was made.

Here a small #Bergen child on the lap of his father is listening to the radio broadcasts on their illegal 31/1 "Sweetheart" radio, a tiny clandestine receiver developed by Willy Simonsen in Britain during the war, air dropped over Norway and Denmark. Its size, so small it could be hidden in a tobacco pouch, made it a good fit for purpose to hide away from the Nazi occupiers.

A small clip (in Norwegian) can be heard here: https://www.nrk.no/video/dette-er-london_112008

Found out about her while researching a blog post about old Jewish #cimbalom players from New York... Regina Spielman (née Szegeti?) born in Máramarossziget, Hungary in 1885, lived in Budapest for a time and possibly Kolomyyia; came to NY in 1923. Played on the radio a bit in NY in the 1920s with a family trio. Apparently related to the violinist Joseph Szigeti. Lived in the Bronx most of her life and died in 1966.

There's too little info to make much of it, unless I find another source later, but as a cimbalist I'm curious about this female #cimbalom player Regina Spielman who was active in NY in the mid-1920s. Just found these two passing mentions of her playing on the radio in 1924 with, I think, her husband Solomon and brother-in-law Louis? No idea of the genre or repertoire either without some more investigation.
