In the stairwell of an old apartment building, the shadows of the railings - vertical bars and a handrail - lit from different sources meet and cross on the wall, one faint, one dark. It looks like a black and white photograph but was taken in colour, it’s just there’s nothing there but peeling white wall and shadows.

Is it just me, or does the gold paint on the spikes of these railings by the Necropolis in Glasgow make them look remarkably like half-peeled bananas?

This week it was a fun project to install a set of retractable awnings. What a great addition to an otherwise exposed deck! A long stretch of black, wrought-iron park railings

Queen's Park Railings on the Southside of Glasgow. I'm not too sure why one is so obviously different from the others, but I suspect it may be due to the need to make a repair to a listed structure clearly discernable from the original parts.
