@Sarahp oh please #fediverse can we get a self-hosted #foss #pinterest replacement? I love #readeck it's almost there, but currently does full pages only, not images.

We really need a non-corporate #moodboard application .. I'm not a developer, but could it be that complicated to modify existing projects ?

@louischance @wallabag #Wallabag is great. #Readeck is similar, new and interesting alternative. I was already #selfhosting #Miniflux rss reader and doing half of my reading on it and the other half on Wallabag was bugging me, so I switched to saving all my to-be-read articles on #Linkding bookmark manager which provides an #rss feed for "unread" items.

Updated #Readeck to 0.18.0 on Quickbeam. It was almost no effort, except I had to tweak things a little, because Quickbeam is on NixOS 24.11, which has go 1.23, but Readeck 0.18 requires Go >= 1.24.

So I made the readeck module compule using Go from nixos-unstable. Everything else is still on 24.11, though.

This is yet another great power of #NixOS: I can pull packages in from a different channel, for one derivation only.

So another advantage of #readeck: it has its own browser extension, so it can actually bookmark the version of the page I'm seeing. While #microblog has a nice reader interface, it gets blocked by a lot of places, so it's not as useful as it could be.

Oma motiivi on mielenkiintoisten artikkelien/juttujen arkistointi koska nykyinen internet on niin epästabiili ympäristö. Ehkä myös offline-käyttö myöhemmin.

More experimentation with @readeck

Since it is running on local on my #MacBook in an external SSD, and my #iPadPro is my main device to explore the web, I needed a solution to save pages.

I created a #shortcut on #iOS that use #Tailscale to connect to my MacBook to make an API call. It works very good!

My next trick is to install #Readeck on a #docker container, on my #Synology #NAS. More on this soon..

Aaaand #readeck integration in #miniflux works. This might just be gold 🤩

Project Read Later 9.0. (Is that actually enough? 9th attempt?)

First tests with different sources/websites. Readeck has so far extracted all texts correctly. Wallabag failed with several sources, some of which were very well-known.

Cons : no mobile app, so bit annoying to save from my android (copying the url, going to the webapp and copying).

But other than this cons, like it :)

- I am using it for bookmarks. Anything you mark as unread can be send to your RSS reader to be read later.
- #readeck https://github.com/readeck/readeck is like #wallabag, but new and awesome (multiple fonts for example).

Mngh. I need a "save to readeck" button in my #Tusky, preferably replacing the bookmark.

That, or a small cron job to save my bookmarks to #Readeck... I guess the latter is easier. But the first would be nicer.

@pauvretype pour miniflux tu peux lier tes comptes comme #linkding #wallabag #readeck #matrix etc alors que freshrss c’est par extension et pas forcement facile à configurer. autre point c’est que miniflux est en go qui est rapide. j’ai deja essayé de nombreuses fois installer freshrss mais à chaque fois je bute sur la multitude de flux RSS que j’ai en ma possession ça finit en erreur 404, mon NAS ne suit pas alors que miniflux pas de souci. là actuellement j’en suis à 200k articles xD
